Image processing quality, Broadcast Solutions notes, “has proven to be excellent,” even when playing full-screen video at full frame rate, achieving a latency of less than 17 ms.

The Apantac KVM over IP solutions support routing or switching of video, keyboard and mouse (HID), USB 2.0, audio (analog/embedded), RS-232 and IR. In addition to KVM functionality, the Apantac KVM over IP systems can also be used to create monitor walls and multiviewers. While in small installations the KVM over IP Tx and Rx (transmitter and receiver) units can be connected via point-to-point, in the case of Studio Berlin the modules are connected to two switches, which are separated in the OB van and the support van and connected via four redundant 10G trunks. The Ü10 includes 26 workstations and a total of 39 computers with 25 user workstations connected via the Apantac KVM over IP system, which offers a switching time between computers of only two seconds. Broadcast Solutions Produkte & Service, a subsidiary of Broadcast Solutions and German distributor of Apantac KVM and multiviewer solutions, oversaw the implementation together with the Broadcast Solutions project team.

Another highlight of Studio Berlin’s new mobile unit was the implementation of a KVM over IP system from Apantac. Instead of installing all the hardware racks in the mobile unit, they are moved into a support vehicle. The vehicle stands out especially for a new concept when it comes to space distribution, since it separates the production area with the technology area. The Ü10 is the Studio Berlin latest big bet in the field of UHD mobile units.
